Poland has been a member of the European Union since 2004, but has not decided to join the monetary union yet. Have Poland benefited or lost from this decision? For the last two years, starting from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Polish zloty, like other currencies of Central European countries, has been significantly depreciated.

Minister of Finance Andrej Babis suggests that adoption of the euro currency should depend more on a dialogue with citizens of the Czech Republic. Therefore, he would like to organize a referendum on adopting euro. And the referendum should be tentative.

Unfortunately, most governments are not using structural solutions; they are using cyclical solutions, such as greater monetary easing.
