On June 1, the European Commission approved Poland\'s national recovery plan worth ca. EUR 35 billion. Ursula von der Leyen, has warned that money will be transferred only if Poland doesn’t fail to reach all “milestones” in granting judicial independence: abolishing the Disciplinary Chamber of the Supreme Court, rewriting its rules and allowing judges sanctioned or suspended by the chamber to have their cases reviewed.

When the international concept of human rights is seen as a threat to sovereignty and national values, such phenomena as antisemitism, islamophobia and xenophobia are politicized, and minorities are marginalized and excluded. In this situation, the main tool for creating attitudes of tolerance and inclusivity is education.

Attention to absence can be the first step towards inclusive action. It is important to notice in which situations, texts, and discussions the minority voice is missing. We should notice these areas as participants of events and users of materials and look critically at our own planned initiatives.

Mobilization of Polish society to help refugees is beyond all expectations. Facebook groups where ordinary citizens offer their help have mushroomed in recent days, gathering hundreds of thousands of users.

The Polish Deal was a new socio-economic programme of PiS for 2021-30. It was announced in May and approved by the government in September 2021, before coming into force at the start of 2022.

Conspiracy theories are a plague of our time that has been gaining strength, particularly in countries where the citizen’s trust in authorities and institutions is low.
