The Council of the European Union as voice of the member governments and as main legislative body of the EU alongside with the Parliament, had a key role in these debates which worth to recall.

President Macron’s call (March 2019) for a Conference on the future of Europe has led at the end of 2019 to a decision by the European Parliament and the European Commission to launch such a Conference on Schuman Day: May 9, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 crisis the launching was postponed.

The core stones of the EU have always been 4 freedoms which made the Union desirable and promising. However, the EU enlargement is not only physical – with new members joining, - but it is also increasing in powers and regulatory fields.
