Due to the activities of the Parliamentary Group on the Decriminalization of Marijuana, the debate on the decriminalization and legalization of recreational cannabis has returned to Poland. The Group plans to present a draft act that would decriminalize the possession of up to 15 grams of marijuana. Current research on drug policy indicates that, from a harm-reduction perspective, the most effective solution is the legalization of this substance.

When a young ODS member challenges Fiala to smoke a joint and ODS suddenly talks about legalization, it is clear that marijuana is no longer just a pirate issue. Fiala smilingly declined the offer, but his surprisingly accommodating response signaled a shift. At the same time, ODS launched a campaign with the slogan \"now is the time for legalization\", a clear ploy to appeal to young voters and disillusioned Pirate supporters.

Various prohibitionist strategies have been part of modern society for many years. However, they are more like a hydra whose head, when cut off, grows two more. Recently, the substance HHC – chemically related to THC, which is found in marijuana – has attracted attention. Until now, it has not fallen under any prohibition legislation, but that will change with the arrival of March 2024.
