During the Free Market Road Show 2015 in Warsaw, organized in cooperation with Civil Development Forum (FOR), we asked Mrs. Barbara Kolm, President of the Friedrich A. v. Hayek Institute in Vienna, Austria and Director of the Austrian Economics Center which is responsible for organizing of this extraordinary international conference tour, what all the fuss is about?

While the European Union is pursuing regulation and centralisation and European economies continue to grapple with the crisis, on May 7, the Lithuanian Free Market Institute (LFMI) hosted an international conference “Austerity without reforms – economies without growth” in Vilnius, Lithuania. The conference was organised in cooperation with the Austrian Economic Center and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation as a part of the Free Market Road Show 2015.

On May 6, 2015, in Bratislava, the F. A. Hayek Foundation organized an international seminar titled: “Gold plating – National Issues vs European Legislation”, reflecting an increasing interest of Slovak stakeholders on the topic of Gold plating.

Gold-plating is a term that describes the process where an EU directive is given additional powers when being transposed into the national laws of member states - a quite common approach in any EU state. The seminar will reflect upon this issue and give an overview of positive approaches on how successful EU countries deal with the problem and what kind of procedures they have implemented. Free Market Road Show 2015 has visited Bratislava, Slovakia on April 14, 2015. The event organized by INESS in cooperation with Austrian Economics Center was a part of the unique conference tour that visits 36 cities around Europe and Caucasus from April till May.
