We are pleased to present the fifteenth issue of 4liberty.eu Review, titled “Mythical Self-Sufficiency in Reality”. This time, our primary focus is on autarky, as it continues to be viewed by numerous CEE governments as an appealing idea to follow.

With the help of Poland’s right-wing PIS government, the Belarusian leader Lukashenko engineered a humanitarian crisis on Europe’s doorstep. In doing so, he is successfully eroding the European Union’s remaining claim to moral authority.

‘To serve or to rule?’ – this is a dilemma we face as we reflect on the fundamental principles of “the scope of powers [of the state] shall be limited by the Constitution” and “state institutions shall serve the people” on the occasion of the Constitution Day.

First of all, it was an overstatement to call the apartment yours. There was no private ownership of apartments in the Soviet Union. There existed only personal possession of small land parcels with small (or not, depending on the size of a bribe) houses.

Lithuania ranks 6th in the 2021 International Tax Competitiveness Index presented by the US-based Tax Foundation. Estonia maintains the top ranking and the neighboring Latvia comes second, followed by New Zealand, Switzerland and Luxembourg.

Following the example of the Belarusian and Russian state-controlled media, Slovak disinformation websites also capitalize on the harrowing images of human suffering at the EU borders.

The law should protect us from the will of the rulers, arbitrary decisions of the elected or non-elected politicians, any of us acting in an anti-social way, as well as any wrongdoing. Classical liberals are simply striving for a lawful society.
