Lithuania ranks 6th in the 2021 International Tax Competitiveness Index presented by the US-based Tax Foundation. Estonia maintains the top ranking and the neighboring Latvia comes second, followed by New Zealand, Switzerland and Luxembourg.

The RSF report comes at a crunch time to note what other international organizations have expressed earlier: concerns about the treatment of journalists by the Greek Police, restrictions on coverage of the immigration issue, and direct or indirect effort of the Greek government to control the flow of information for political gain.

The Lithuanian Free Market Institute (LFMI) ranks the sixth best think tank in Central and Eastern Europe in 2020 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report released by the University of Pennsylvania. LFMI is also among top 1 percent organizations in the world, ranked in the 126th place.

For the third year in a row, the Lithuanian Free Market Institute and its partner organizations present the Employment Flexibility Index 2020 that ranks a total of 41 countries that are members of the European Union (EU) or the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

INESS created a brand new index called Health for Money, which rates healthcare in 26 countries, having also money in focus. The index touches also academia, measuring number of quotable medical papers from the country, or international rankings of faculties of medicine.

Truth be told, the Doing Business report has lost a significant part of its explanatory power, at least for countries in transition, due to political economy of reforms and disregard of the level of rule of law.

Using 79 distinct indicators to evaluate freedom in 159 countries, the Human Freedom Index captures the degree to which people are free to enjoy rights such as freedom of expression, religion, assembly, movement, trade, identity, relationships, as well as measures the rule of law, security and safety.
